 New Territories East and Island West Advanced to the Gold Medal Game of the 7th Hong Kong Games Wheelchair Basketball Challenge
The semi-finals of the 7th Hong Kong Games Wheelchair Basketball Challenge concluded on 5 May at the Tsuen Wan Sports Centre. The first and second teams of the preliminary rounds, New Territories East and Island West defeated the opponents and entered the final. Kowloon West and Island East will compete again for the third place. New Territories East played against Kowloon West in the first match. New Territories East took a 31-8 lead in the first half with better organization and higher shooting accuracy. After being in a disadvantaged position, Kowloon West struggled to catch up in the second half. Although YEUNG Kwok Fu and YU Chun Yin had an improved performance by contributing 18 points together, New Territories East repeatedly solved the opponent's defense and successfully instigated the offense, giving them a 57-34 victory and the spot in the final. Island West showed confidence at the match against Island East. They quickly scored in 30 seconds and held an 8-point advantage at halftime. POON Hai and KWOK Hoi Nang of Island East tried to score more in the second half but missed the chance to narrow the gap. On the contrary, CHUNG Cheuk Ting and CHENG Yan Keung of Island West took turns to contribute and led the team to a 53-36 win. Island East will play the bronze medal match against Kowloon West. The bronze medal match will be held at 11am on 12 May at the Tsuen Wan Sports Centre.
