Hong Kong player LEUNG Yuk Wing and HO Yuen Kei captured a silver and a bronze medal respectively in the third competition day of BISFed 2019 Hong Kong Boccia World Open on 17 May.

BC4 player LEUNG Yuk Wing dispatched Brazilian Eliseu DOS SANTOS 4-1 in Individual quarter-finals and teammate LAU Wai Yan 4-2 in semi-finals.  He trailed 0-4 heading to last end in finals facing Great Britain’s Stephen MCGUIRE and could not reverse the scoreline to end with a silver medal after losing 1-4.

LAU Wai Yan Vivian came across China’s Yuexiang GUANG in BC4 quarter-finals and took a 2-point lead in the first end before GUANG dominated the second end by scoring 5 points.  It was titanic struggle in the third end as they both scored 1 point.  LAU was in good form to force the game into tie-break by chasing 3 points in the fourth end and smashed away the challenge of GUANG in the extra end with better performance.  However, she missed out on a medal as she was defeated by compatriot LEUNG Yuk Wing in semi-finals and lost to Croatia’s KOMAR 0-6 in bronze medal match.

Ho Yuen Kei first disappointed Australia’s Spencer COTIE with a 4-1 victory in BC3 Individual quarter-finals.  She met Jamie MCCOWAN in a thrilling bronze medal match and won 3-1 to earn a bronze medal after losing to Patrick WILSON 2-1 from Great Britain in semi-finals.

Hong Kong’s BC1 athletes LEUNG Mei Yee and BC2 athletes Yeung Hiu Lam stopped at quarter-finals after losing to Malaysian and Japanese opponents respectively.
