Hong Kong Fencer Claimed Bronze on First Day Event of IWAS Wheelchair Fencing World Cup
Hong Kong Fencer YU Chui Yee claimed bronze on the first day event of IWAS Wheelchair Fencing World Cup, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Women's Epee category A YU Chui Yee advanced to elimination round will all win record before enjoying a bye in the round of 32. She edged out Great Britain's Gemma COLLIS-MCCANN 15-7 and Thanland's Cholthacha BUSSAYAWIPHATHORN 15-13 in the round of 16 and quarter-finals respectively. She captured a bronze after suffering from a narrow 14-15 defeat against Hungary's Zsuzsanna KRAJNYAK. NG Justine Charissa benefited from a bye in the round of 32 after advancing to knockout rounds with 4-1 win-loss record. She finished and ranked ninth after being defeated by Cholthacha BUSSAYAWIPHATHORN from Thailand in the round of 16. Women's Epee category B TONG Nga Ting advanced with 2-2 win-loss record and defeated in a narrow 14-15 contest against Olga YESINA from Ukraine in round of 32 to finished at 18th. CHUNG Yuen Ping ended with round of 32 defeat 11-12 against Ellen GEDDES from USA and ranked 20th. Men's Sabre category A CHEONG Meng Chai advanced with 1-4 win-loss record but he stopped at 23rd after losing 5-15 to German fencer Maurice SCHMIDT in round of 32.
