Hong Kong Announced 64-member Delegation for Tokyo 2020 Paralympics With 24 Athletes Competing in 8 Sports


The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games is set to take place from 24 August to 5 September with around 4,400 Para athletes from more than 160 countries and territories competing across 22 sports.  Hong Kong Paralympic Committee & Sports Association for the Physically Disabled today (12 July) announces the Delegation List for the upcoming Games.
 
A total of 64 Hong Kong Delegation members, including 24 athletes to take part in 8 sports, namely archery, athletics, boccia, equestrian, swimming, table tennis, wheelchair fencing and badminton, the sport making its debut in Paralympics. Half of the athletes will be making their first appearance in the Games.  Meanwhile, 40 coaches, sports science & medical officials, delegation officials and NPC representatives are also well-prepared to provide comprehensive support on and off the court. 
 
To further facilitate the Delegation’s preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, a 3-day Games simulation training camp will be held from 30 July to 1 August at Hong Kong Sports Institute, simulating the COVID-19 countermeasures to be put in place for the Games.
 
Hong Kong has participated in 12 Paralympic Games since 1972 and captured a total of 126 medals comprises 40 gold, 37silver and 49 bronze, including 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals claimed at Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
