Hong Kong Team Bagged Two Gold and Two Silver at IWAS Wheelchair Fencing World Cup 2021 - Pisa, Italy
IWAS Wheelchair Fencing World Cup 2021 - Pisa, Italy was held on 18 to 21 November. Hong Kong team bagged two gold and two silver at the competition. Women's Epee Individual Category A YU Chui Yee went undefeatable in five pool plays, she then eliminated Italy fencer Letizia BARIA and France athlete Clémence DELAVOIPIERE 15-3 in round of 16 and quarter-finals. She continued to defeat Poland’s Kinga DROZDZ 15:10 in semi-finals and then England’s Gemma COLLIS-MCCANN in final 15-13 to clinch a gold. Women's Foil Individual Category A YU Chui Yee again advanced with all winning record and enjoyed a BYE in the round of 16. She eliminated teammate LAM Ka Man 15-7 in quarter-finals and then Nino TIBILASHVILI from Georgia 15-2 in semi-finals. She went on beating Italy’s Ionela Andreea MOGOS 15-4 in finals and secured another gold medal. Women’s Foil Individual Category B TONG Nga Ting moved to knock-out round with 5-1 win-loss record. She received a BYE in the round of 16 and then sent home Justine MOORE from England 15-11 in quarter-finals and Netherland’s Iris TENKINK 15-7. Unfortunately, she lost to Georgia’s Irma KHETSURIANI 10-15 in finals and sealed a silver, also her first individual medal at World Cup. Women’s Foil Team FAN Pui Shan, LAM Ka Man, YU Chui Yee and TONG Nga Ting enjoyed a bye in the round of eight. They earned a narrow win against Georgia 45-44 in semi-finals.
