Hong Kong Team Clinched One Silver & Two Bronze at IWAS Wheelchair Fencing World Cup - Warsaw, Poland IWAS Wheelchair Fencing World Cup - Warsaw, Poland was held on 7 to 9 July. Hong Kong team clinched one silver and two bronze at the competition. Women's Sabre Individual Category A YU Chui Yee advanced to elimination round with 3-2 win-loss record and enjoyed a bye in the round of 32. She edged out Poland’s Marta FIDRYCH 15-12 and Hungary’s Amarilla VERES 15-14 in the round of 16 and quarter-finals respectively. However, she was defeated by Poland’s Kinga DROZD 7-15 in the semi-finals and caught a bronze. FAN Pui Shan advanced with 1-4 win-loss record. Unfortunately, she was stopped at 19th after being defeated by Italy’s Sofia BRUNATI 5-15 in the round of 32. LAM Ka Man advanced with 1-4 win-loss record. Unfortunately, she finished at 18th after losing to Thailand’s Duean NAKPRASIT 13-15 in the round of 32. Women's Foil Individual Category A YU Chui Yee advanced to elimination round with 6 wins record and enjoyed a bye in the round of 32. She edged out Japan’s Shino KAWAI 15-7 and Turkey’s Elke Lale VAN ACHTERBERG 15-1 in the round of 16 and quarter-finals respectively. Then she won over Judith RODRIGUEZ MENENDEZ from Spain 15-5 in the semi-finals, unfortunately she lost to Hungary’s Eva Andrea HAJMASI 12-15 in the semi-finals to earn a silver. FAN Pui Shan advanced with 4-1 win-loss record and received a bye in the round of 32. She eased to victory over Thailand’s Suthin SITA with 15-3 in the round of 16. Unfortunately, she finished at 7th after losing to Eva Andrea HAJMASI from Hungary 2-15 in the quarter-finals. LAM Ka Man advanced with 3-2 win-loss record and defeated Israel’s Linor KELMAN 15-2 in the round of 32. However, she finished at 13th after losing to Italy’s Ionela Andreea MOGOS 2-15 in round of 16. Women's Foil Individual Category B CHUNG Yuen Ping advanced with 4 wins record and enjoyed a bye in the round of 32. She then edged out Thailand‘s Chintanakon SEEPAK 15-2 in the round of 16. However, she finished at 5th after being defeated by Anri SAKURAI from Japan 8-15 in the quarter-finals. TONG Nga Ting advanced to elimination round with 3-2 win-loss record and received a bye in the round of 32. However, she lost to Netherland’s Iris TENKINK 11-15 in the round of 16 and finished at 10th. Women's Epee Individual Category A YU Chui Yee advanced to elimination round with 5 wins record and enjoyed a bye in the round of 32. She eliminated teammate FAN Pui Shan 15-11 in the round of 16 and France’s Brianna VIDE 6-4 in the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, she suffered from a 6-15 loss to Poland’s Marta FIDRYCH in the semi-finals and captured a bronze. FAN Pui Shan entered the knockout round with 2-3 win-loss record. She edged out Renata BURDON from Poland 15-10 in the round of 32, but she finished at 14th after being defeated by teammate YU Chui Yee 11-15 in the round of 16. Women's Epee Individual Category B CHUNG Yuen Ping recorded 3-2 win-loss in pool events. She failed to defeat Japan’s Anri SAKURAI 10-15 in the round of 16 and finished at 9th. TONG Nga Ting entered the knockout round with 3-2 win-loss record. She outplayed Ellen GEDDES from the USA 15-4 in top 16 play, but she lost to Rossana PASQUINO from Italy 9-15 in quarter-finals and finished at 7th. Women’s Epee Team CHUNG Yuen Ping, FAN Pui Shan and TONG Nga Ting were defeated by France 25-45 in the quarter-finals, then the team withdrew due to health reasons and could not finish the ranking round. Men's Epee Individual Category A CHOW Long Ho advanced to elimination round with 1-4 win-loss record, unfortunately he finished at 40th after losing to France’s Damien TOKATLIAN 9-15 in the round of 64.
