The Association’s Response to the 2022 Policy Address The Chief Executive announced a series of measures to support local sports development in the 2022 Policy Address today (19 October). The Association welcomes the initiatives including the launching of a five-year pilot programme on career and education for Para athletes to equip them for post-retirement development. Besides developing multiple Para sports from grassroots to elite level, and enabling local Para athletes to achieve sporting excellence, the Association has all along been committed to provide education and career support for athletes, nominates them for admission to schools they preferred so as to enhance their academic and sports development. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Association launches the Athlete Coaching Education Fund (the Fund) with generous support from the Association's private donor and long-standing partner Standard Chartered Bank. The Fund aims to support and provide subsidies to current and retired squad athletes of the sports governed by the Association to participate in relevant coaching courses, to train them into qualified coaches, and transmit their experience and insight to a new generation of athletes. The Fund has implemented for several months and already supported five current and retired athletes to attend related courses. The Association welcomes the initiatives on launching a five-year pilot programme on career and education for Para athletes, and believes the programme can support their post-athletics transformation in a more comprehensive and sustainable way. |
